It’s a question I get all the time, how do I learn to shoot faster?
In this Pro-Tip we are going to address target difficulty and speed.
A lot of times shooters will just shoot twice at any target no matter how difficult it is. But I am going to break down how you can shoot each of these targets as fast as possible, based on the target difficulty.
So, here’s my set up, I have steel targets in this array, but you can certainly use paper if you don’t have steel. This is a large 18 by 24 inch target. It the closest target in the array and I really want to focus on my hits getting in the center of this the target. We don’t want to just throw two rounds at it, we want accuracy for this entire drill.
Moving on forward we also have another 18 by 24 set five yards back. This is going to be a little bit more difficult.
And then finally our most challenging target of the entire array. This is a 12-inch plate, and this is going to be challenging as your last two shots from this distance.
Now to really make the most of this drill we are going to break it down from each shot and each transition, so that you can improve both your speed and your accuracy.
So, the first thing we are going to address is the draw and your first target so while we’re doing this. We really want to focus on getting a good grip on the gun, a positive meet-up with the weak hand at the center, and then extending on to the target.
So the gun, a positive meet-up with the weak hand at the center, and then extending on to the target.
As soon as you see those sights lift, you're going t, the first thing we are going to address is the draw and your first target so while we’re doing this. We really want to focus on getting a good grip ono let them settle and squeeze again.
We are going to repeat these three or four times, if necessary, as many times as you need to get this down. The smooth draw movement along with your timing on this target.
Alright so, the first target is addressed after the draw. Now we are going to keep our aiming point on target one, and transition to target two.
We are breaking down this drill in each position.
