Training for Bianchi

Julie10-1

Bianchi Cup is a unique event for me because it combines precision and speed all in one match. There are three elements that you really have to pay attention to. The draw, sight alignment, and trigger control in order to be successful at Bianchi Cup and in your general shooting.

Julie10-3

At Bianchi Cup all paper targets require a visual start that means when you assume the start position the surrender you are going to wait until you see the targets appear.  When that happens you are going to come down onto to the gun, get a good solid grip, extend out, you’re support hand is ready to axcept the firearm. Meet in the center and line it up on the black.

Now let’s talk about sight picture. In other action shooting sports such as USPSA or IDPA you have a much larger area to shoot in order to score the most points. In Bianchi it’s a much smaller area. In other sports this could be an acceptable sight picture, but in Bianchi this could result in a hit outside the ten ring.  It’s critical to keep the sights lined up in this game.

Now acceptable sight picture can be a little bit confusing. In Bianchi Cup it’s all about your points, you’re given the time limits you have to shoot the points. In USPSA or IDPA there is the element of time. Time comes to factor in addition to your hits, so you can play a little bit. You can be a little bit faster and have worse points on the stage and still do well.

Julie10-6

Now let’s focus on the third element, trigger control. I like to think of trigger control as a smooth motion.  It’s kind of like imagining your finger dragging through peanut butter.  It really is this simple.

Julie10-7

Hold your sight picture, engage the trigger and let the shot happen. Once you’re comfortable with those three elements; the draw, sight alignment, and trigger control; the next step is knowing your shooting times. There are four courses in Bianchi Cup, get a rule book, learn the course of fire, learn he time limits on each stage, and I hope I’ll see you at the next Bianchi Cup.
