Pro Tip: Justine & Jalise on Reload Racing

Colt27-Speed Reloads-1
This is a fun drill / competition that you can do with a partner where you can practice your reloads, but it also adds a different kind of pressure.

Colt27-Speed Reloads-2

Before we get into racing let's talk about the elements of a reload.

To initiate the reload you have to press the mag release button. That will get rid of the used mag.

You will then take your support hand and reach for a fresh mag on your belt.

Present the mag to the mag well. Make sure to keep your eyes focused on the mag well so it is easier to insert the magazine in the gun and slam it in home, Re-present your gun to the target. Get a good grip and then fire.

Obviously, this drill requires a shot timer. So, one person will be timing and the other will start with their gun out on target.

At the start signal you’re going to shoot one round into the target. You are going to perform a mandatory reload. And then you’re going to shoot another round into the target.

Colt27-Speed Reloads-9

In order for your run to count, you have to have all of your hits inside of the zero zone. You will do this a total of three times and you’ll take your best time for your score.

For this version of reload racing we used Colt Gold Cup Trophy 9mm.

You can use semi auto. But, if you really want to get crazy, you can even use revolvers.

Jalise: Now for all of my runs I had all of my hits in the center down zero ring. While Justine had one just outside.

Justine: But my second string was faster than hers at 1.55 while she had a 1.58 so I won.
